It is completely illegal to operate a motor vehicle without adequate auto insurance. Each state decides what the minimum amount of coverage is in order to legally drive. Attempting to save money by not buying auto insurance can turn out being quite expensive.

If you don't supply proof of legitimate auto insurance at the Secretary of State subsequently you can't buy license tags for your car. People need to have valid license tags to legally operate a vehicle. Those that have no insurance risk tickets, hefty fines, and may even have their driver's license suspended.

One day, those who have chosen to not buy auto insurance are going to have to, even of it is just for the purpose of renewing your tags. There is a database that lets all insurance companies know who has been driving without insurance.

High risk drivers is the label that people who operate a motor vehicle without insurance are called. The result is the option to buy insurance that is conditional and at extreme rates. When you drive without insurance the cons definitely outweigh the pros.
