Auto Insurance - Leading Misconceptions

By Chimezirim Odimba

A lot of people have been told things regarding auto insurance and immediately just assumed it was true. Often people say things that they are not certain about when in fact it was never verified. Search for the truth for yourself to see if what you have heard is fact or fiction. A number of myths have to to be exposed for being simply that, myths!

Any new vehicle is not just covered by any open policies that you may own. Surely, your insurance company would like to insure your new vehicle but they must be informed about it.

It is untrue that all states call for liability insurance by law. The word "every" covers a broad area and the correct word would be "most."

When you allow others to use your car, in the event that they are in an accident you should know that it is your policy that will affected, not the drivers. It will also be your rates that will be affected.

No Fault insurance does not have anything to do with your premiums rising when you are involved in an accident. No-fault insurance guarantees that your insurance group will shell out for your damage despite whose fault the accident is. An increase in price or a negative mark on your insurance record is never promised to any client.

Young males less than 25 years of age are not charged the maximum insurance premiums. Because they have a higher accident ratio, seniors and teens are charged the most for insurance premiums.

If you use your car for business then you will need additional coverage. Insurance rates are calculated, in part, by using your credit score as one component.

When you decide to change insurance companies, square up with your current provider first and let them know what is going on. Any lapse in coverage can look bad on your credit report.

Your standard collision policy will not cover you against damages caused by any weather conditions, accidents that are caused from hitting something other than a person, and theft. You must have full coverage if you would like to be covered for other types of damage since collision will only protect you in the event that you are involved in a car accident. Your collision will simply not cover any damage that arises from hitting an animal.

Insurance companies do not factor in the color of ones vehicle at all when calculating the premiums. The color does not change the price whatsoever.
